#28DaysOfBlackHistory #Day2 Marcus Garvey born in Jamaica and known for his “Back to Africa” campaign. He thought that blacks in America would forever be a permanent minority. Here we are almost a century later fighting for an even playing field. Guess he was on to something.
Marcus did launch the “Black Star Fleet” however it never made it to the motherland. The fleet went bankrupt after some “shady” dealings happened, and the Federal Govt ended up arresting and deporting Mr. Garvey (what a surprise).
He died in London. But, this black man is a trailblazing civil rights leader above all else! Thank you for your efforts Mr. Garvey…

#Day1 Jean Baptiste Dusable founded the city I call home, Chicago, approximately in 1779. There is no photograph of Dusable in his era, only drawings. There’s also a disconnect in the actual year of his settling in Chicago. But, make no mistake, this segregated city we call home was founded by a black man. ANYWAY, {in my best BET awards show voice} I wanna thank my mama! (Luckily she doesn’t have Instagram) Unfortunately, you can’t see her face because she doesn’t like taking photos (I wonder who I get it from). She’s gorgeous to me though.
